About

It seems some folks have actually clicked on this section, so I guess we have to put something up in this space.

“3 Weird Sisters” derives from a video blogwar with our friend over at Kyle+Blog; after a couple of days of relentless bad-video pummeling from the three of us, Kyle did the wise thing and surrendered.  I noted that he should have known better than to think he could take the “3 Weird Sisters of Piedmont Hills”  – the first bit being a reference to the three witches in the opening scene of Macbeth and that last bit being a reference to the utterly typical 1960′s subdivision where we all met and grew up together, starting around 43 years ago, before kindergarten.

Not many people under 50 can claim friendships of that duration.  I won’t get into characterizing each of us and who we are today; I’ll just note how damn lucky we were as kids to live so close to other nerdy kids who liked both books AND raising hell.  Thanks to Beth and Lyta, I was over halfway through my thirties before it ever dawned on me that I’m a geek.  Such a revelation would have absolutely crushed me as a child, teenager, or young adult.  I was spared that trauma by knowing people who would absolutely get whatever twisted thought entered my brain or emerged from my mouth.

We were inspired by the Margaret and Helen blog, written by two feisty women in their 80′s who’ve now been friends for something like 60 years.  If you haven’t seen their blog, you should look it up.

As for us, we’ve lived over 500 miles apart for the past 30+ years but we still get together at least once a year, just to hang out.  Who better to hang out with than the people who’ve known you forever, where you can really let it all hang out, amirite?  And that’s kind of what this blog is, the three of us just hanging out and feeling free to spout off about whatever twisted thought we might have.

Friendship–especially long and deep friendship–is one of the great joys of being alive. (I am also blessed with 30-year friendships…three friends intertwined.) May your friendship last the rest of your lives: When you are two, you will have solace together and memory. When you are one, you will have memory; may it be full of happiness and grace.

Have you considered writing a book together…with your friendship as the central thread?

I enjoy your site! I’ve bookmarked it.

Review: Starts out in an apologetic voice but quickly turns to doom.

“Part of the Everything Is Wonderful series.”
Future titles in the series are:
    Plane Crashes are Wonderful.
    Hemorrhagic Fever is Wonderful.
    Hagfish are Wonderful.
